About
“We only see what we look at. To look is an act of choice.” – John Berger, Ways of Seeing
I would describe myself as a figurative artist. I am fascinated by human behaviour — the way we place ourselves in the world and how those interactions can become a narrative. I place a strong emphasis on drawing from observation (from life), as it helps me connect to a specific moment in time and creates an interesting dialogue to build upon.
Some believe that art must begin with a clearly defined reason or concept. For me, meaning often emerges through the act of making itself. Through drawing, I am taken to unexpected places — a forgotten memory resurfaces, a strong emotion takes form, a new narrative begins to unfold. At times, I am simply captivated by colour, texture, or the physicality of the materials.
I am currently exploring themes such as metamorphosis in an attempt to transform inner typologies into a visual language.
Art can bring about fun and playful conversations and collaborations. I love talking about art so be sure to reach out.
